HOISINGTON — Triple winner Christopher Ball and double winners Dayne Yott and Xavier Robinson led the Cardinals to the first-place trophy at Tuesday’s Hoisington track meet. The Cardinals won the boys trophy (140.33) and Cimarron (122) placed runner-up. Ball and Robinson also ran on the winning 400-meter relay.
The meet was competed in 50-degree weather with 25 mph northwest winds.
Ball swept the 110-meter hurdles (16.19), 300-meter hurdles (41.81) and pole vault (13-0). Yott won the 1,600 (5:16.19) and 3,200 (11:00.0). Robinson won the long jump (20-03/4) and triple jump (41-6).
Jake Curtis won the javelin (164-10) and the Cardinals won the 400-meter relay (45.96) with Cade Mason, Christopher Ball, Wyatt Pedigo, Xavier Robinson.
“There were outstanding performances despite the really bad weather conditions,” said Hoisington coach Dan Schmidt. “Jake Curtis continues to be outstanding in the javelin. The 400 relay with Cade Mason, Wyatt Pedigo, Christopher Ball and Xavier Robinson brought home a gold medal.
Other boys winners were St. John’s Quincy Smith, 800 (2:06.88), St. John’s 3,200-meter relay (8:52.23) Smith, Cashe McVey, Mason Osborne, Trey Fisher; Central Plains Oiler Alex Barton, high jump (6-2); and the Oilers’ 1,600-meter relay (3:39.02) Lee Letourneau, Jacob McAtee, Anthony Oberle, Alex Barton.
The Hoisington girls (150) earned the first-place trophy and Cimarron (119) placed runner-up.
Hoisington’s Suzanna Schneider won the 100 (13.92) and 200 (29.07). Other Hoisington winners were Bailey Sanders, 100m hurdles (18.06); Samantha Colson, 300 hurdles (50.66); Jocelynn Pedigo, discus (116-7); and Maleigha Schmidt, pole vault (9-6).
St. John’s Erin Crissman won the long jump (14-8) and Central Plains Oiler Taylor Oeser won the javelin (98-8).
