HOISINGTON — The Hoisington High School girls’ golf team edged Larned to defend its Mid-Central Activities Association title on Monday at Lake Barton Golf Course.
The two teams tied for first place, each shooting 412, so the meet came down to the No. 5 girls’ score for each team.
“We did pretty good,” Hoisington head coach Bruce Cooper said. “Larned played well, too. We were down six strokes with nine holes to go, and we were able to come back.
“We didn’t play exceptionally well, but we didn’t let bad holes get to us. We would just come back with some good holes.”
Lady Cardinals player Jordin Greer, who finished with 118 for ninth place overall, bested Larned’s McKenzie Galliart by one stroke to earn Hoisington the win.
Hoisington’s Blakelee Cooper took first place, shooting a 94. Larned’s Katie Seeman took second place with a 95.
Abby Ayre of Larned took third place, shooting a 103. She beat Shelby Littrell of Hoisington and Kayla Langdon of Larned, who both finished with a 103, in a scorecard tiebreaker.
