Hoisington leads league with 10 All-MCAA selections

Hoisington High School claims the most selections in the All-Mid-Central Activities Association basketball teams.
The girls and the boys had five players each between the first and second teams.
The Lady Cardinals (16-6) boast four first-team selections with Mallory Flagor, Jordin Greer, Savannah Rose and BreAnna Burns.
Blakelee Cooper landed on the second team.
Ellinwood and Larned each had three selections.
Darri Beckwith represented the Lady Eagles (6-14) as a first-team all-league selection while Lindsay Zink and Sophia Hayes were on the second team.
The Lady Indians (2-18) had three second-team selections in Jodie Skelton, Kaite Seeman and Tiara Diaz.
The Cardinals (18-5) were represented by Derrick Kaiser, Cody Stetler and Anthony Broeder on the All-MCAA first team. Trent Schremmer and Ryan Becker were both second-team selections.
Cameron Brown of Larned (4-17)was a first-team selection as a sophomore and senior guard Jahman Hill made the second team.
Ellinwood’s top scorer Kyle Blakeslee was on the first team while teammates Patrick Ringering and Kale Clawson each found their way onto the second team for the Eagles (7-13).

HAYS — Sylvan Grove’s Legion baseball team rallied for a 5-4 victory over Ellinwood on Colin Obermueller’s game-winning single in Wednesday’s AA Russell Zone baseball tournament. The game was moved to Hays from Russell because of a unplayable field.Ellinwood (9-10) plays Thursday against the Marysville-Smith Center loser.Ellinwood led 4-1 after 41/2 innings. Sylvan Grove led 1-0 when Dylan Fry scored a first-inning run.Ellinwood’s Levi Swenson scored a second-inning run on a double steal with Evan Johanning.
