Hoisington softball sweeps two

NICKERSON — Hoisington’s softball team (10-8) swept Nickerson 13-1 and 16-0 Tuesday in rainy, drizzly weather conditions.
First-game winner Karisa Schremmer knocked out Panther starter Meghann Henderson with a line drive that struck her in the leg.
Kendi Maxwell drove in four runs with a single, double and triple. Karisa Schremmer and Kaycee Steiner also drove in runs.
Nickerson’s Katricia Hirst homered in the first inning. Shortstop Logan Gitchell turned two double plays and nearly pulled off a third double play. In the second game, pitcher Delaney Smith threw a one-hit shutout. Emma Harmon and Kenzie Kaiser each drove in two runs. Maxwell drove in one run.
