ULYSSES — Things just wouldn’t go right at the plate for the Hoisington High School softball team on Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Cardinals got blanked by Pratt 10-0 in five innings in a Class 4A regional softball tournament semifinal game hosted by Ulysses.
“Pratt’s pitcher was good at hitting her spots,” Hoisington head coach Gary Boxberger said. “She wasn’t overpowering or nothing. We’d get runners on, but we couldn’t get any timely hits.”
Hoisington closes out the season at 14-6.
“We had a pretty good season overall,” Boxberger said. “The girls don’t think so now, because all they can see is this game, but I think they’ll look back and realize we had a good season.”
The Lady Cardinals got three singles in the game, leaving six runners on base and striking out six times.
Pratt managed 15 hits against Hoisington’s Karisa Schremmer.
