EMPORIA — The Hoisington High School girls’ golf team placed fourth at the Class 3-1A State Golf Tournament on Monday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course.
The Lady Cardinals hit a 435.
“We could’ve done better,” Hoisington head coach Bruce Cooper said. “Going in, our goal was to shoot a 416. The hazards got us. The trees got us.”
Hoisington trailed third-place Syracuse by six strokes.
Caney Valley won the tournament with a 397, and Eureka placed second at 422.
Hoisington’s Delaney Smith finished in the Top 10. She took eighth place, winning a playoff against Pretty Prairie’s Nikayla Lampkins after carding a 98.
“Delaney just bombed it over the hazards,” Cooper said. “She really fit the course well. She parred each of the Par 3s except one, which is pretty impressive. She had a good day.”
Sydney Boxberger finished with a 111 and Alyson Klug carded a 112 to place right behind her.
Madison Wilburn shot a 114 for the Lady Cardinals.
Karissa Schremmer carded a 120, and Jaci Schremmer hit a 121.
