EMPORIA — The Hoisington High School volleyball team finished in fourth place at the Class 3A State Tournament on Saturday at White Auditorium.
The Lady Cardinals came out of pool play in second place, facing the top finisher from the second pool, Silver Lake, in the semifinal round.
Silver Lake went on to defeat Cheney for the state title.
Hoisington fell 25-21, 25-21 to end up in the third-place match against Marysville.
Marysville topped the Lady Cardinals 26-24, 25-23 to claim third.
Hoisington went 2-1 in pool play, losing to Cheney in two sets before knocking out Nemaha Valley and Jayhawk Linn.

SALINA — Larned was unable to make it out of pool play on Friday at the Bicentennial Center.
The Lady Indians went 0-3 on the day, only winning one set against Frontenac.
