HOISINGTON — Down 29-26 heading into the fourth quarter, the Ellinwood High School girls’ basketball team scored 15 points to beat Otis-Bison 41-34 and take third place at the Hoisington Winter Jam.
Lindsay Zink scored five of her nine points in the fourth quarter spurt for the Lady Eagles (4-8) on Saturday.
Ellinwood was led by Sophia Hayes, who scored 12 points.
The Lady Cougars (5-7) were led by Hannah Bannister, who finished with 13 points.
Janel Tammen added seven points for Otis-Bison, which only made three free throws in the final eight minutes.
BOYS
Macksville 59, Nickerson 42
ST. JOHN — Adam Oak scored 18 points as Macksville beat Nickerson in the third-place game of the St. John Lions Club Mid-Winter Classic.
Adolfo Ibarra and Colten Ary, Macksville’s two big post players, each added 11 points.
The Mustangs, who are ranked No. 5 in Class 1A Division-I in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, are 9-2 overall.
Quintin Crandall led Nickerson with 14 points, including nine in the fourth quarter.
Ellinwood 44, Russell 41
HOISINGTON — Kyle Blakeslee recorded his second double-double of the Hoisington Winter Jam in the Eagles’ win over Russell.
Entering the final quarter tied at 33, Ellinwood outscored Russell 11-8 to win the seventh-place game.
Blakeslee scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Patrick Ringering led Ellinwood (5-7) with 19 points.
Central Plains 74, Larned 61
ST. JOHN — Tied at 31 at halftime, Central Plains outscored Larned 43-30 in the second half to win the seventh-place game of the St. John Lions Club Mid-Winter Classic.
The Oilers had five players score in double digits with Benn Kirmer leading the pack with 18 points.
Tim Stueder added 15 points.
Layne Bieberle contributed 12 points, Ty Heitschmidt finished with 11 and Joe Barton had 10.
Larned shooting guard Jahman Hill finished with a game-high 20 points, including four 3-pointers.
Cameron Brown and Easton Palmer added nine points apiece.
Wichita West 62, St. John 50
ST. JOHN — Down 32-31 after two quarters of play, St. John stalled in the third quarter, allowing Wichita West to a 50-37 lead entering the final eight minutes.
Wichita West won the fifth-place game of the St. John Lions Club Mid-Winter Classic.
St. John (7-5) was led by Kade Kinammon, who finished with 13 points.
Spencer Nusser scored 12 points and Zuriel Reyes added 10.

HOISINGTON — Trailing 22-20 after three quarters, the Russell girls rallied to beat Otis-Bison 30-28 on Friday at the Hoisington Winter Jam.
The Lady Cougars were led by Hannah Bannister, who finished with 12 points. Janel Tammen added eight points.
Kaitlynn Walker, who scored five points in the fourth quarter, led Russell with 11 points.

PRATT — The Pratt girls, who area ranked No. 8 in Class 4A, leaped out to a 24-6 lead after the first quarter and held on to beat Macksville.
Karissa Langlois led the Lady Mustangs with nine points.
Macksville will be the No. 8 seed at the 54 Classic at Cunningham. The Lady Mustangs will face No. 1 seeded Norwich at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
