The Great Bend High School girls’ golf team concluded the regular season with a second-place finish at The Club at StoneRidge on Tuesday evening.
The Lady Panthers finished with a score of 193, trailing Garden City’s 181.
“The wind was howling, and we had some pretty tough holes,” GBHS head coach Troy Stein said. “I thought the team did well, and hopefully, this will give us some confidence heading into regionals next week.”
McKenna Mauler led four Great Bend medalists, carding a 45 for third place.
Hannah Mauler claimed fifth place at 48.
Taylor Mohr and Michaela Cape each finished with 50, taking eighth and ninth places, respectively.
“Our top 4 girls played very well,” Stein said. “McKenna had a really good day. She actually tied for second, but lost in a tiebreaker. Hannah tied for fourth, but with the tiebreaker, she finished in fifth.”
Great Bend will compete at a Class 5A regional tournament at Hays on Monday, Oct. 14. Joining the Lady Panthers for the 10 a.m. start will be host Hays, Liberal, Newton, Salina Central and Salina South.
