GARDEN CITY — The Great Bend High School volleyball team dropped matches to host Garden City and Liberal on Thursday, but defeated Holcomb in two sets.
The Lady Panthers were swept in two sets by Garden City, 25-22, 25-22.
“We felt we did not play our best against Garden City,” GBHS head coach Kelsey Perry said. “We could never break away in the first set and we struggled behind the serving line. The second set we had control with a six-point lead and let Garden City get on a role and take the lead again. Brenna Haines hit the ball against Garden City and our timing was better with our setter and hitters so that was an area we needed to see improve.”
Katelyn Henning led defensively with nine digs ,while Tarynn Stueder led with eight assists.
Liberal also swept the Lady Panthers 25-23, 25-20, but Great Bend was able to best Holcomb, 25-10, 25-19.
Stueder had 16 assists and four digs against Holcomb.
Brenna Haines led with seven kills against Holcomb, and Liz Kutina was right behind her with six kills, as well as one block and one dig.
