HAYS — Great Bend High School’s girls’ varsity golf team opened the 2010 fall season on Monday, taking part in the Hays invite.
Great Bend finished No. 5 in the team standings at 241 in the nine-team meet. Garden City captured first place with a 176, outdistancing second-place Hays.

HAYS — Sylvan Grove’s Legion baseball team rallied for a 5-4 victory over Ellinwood on Colin Obermueller’s game-winning single in Wednesday’s AA Russell Zone baseball tournament. The game was moved to Hays from Russell because of a unplayable field.Ellinwood (9-10) plays Thursday against the Marysville-Smith Center loser.Ellinwood led 4-1 after 41/2 innings. Sylvan Grove led 1-0 when Dylan Fry scored a first-inning run.Ellinwood’s Levi Swenson scored a second-inning run on a double steal with Evan Johanning.
