SCOTT CITY — The Great Bend High School girls’ basketball team shut down Scott City on Saturday night, winning 66-19.
The Lady Panthers led 32-16 at halftime, and held Scott City to three points in the second half.
“We felt it was a good performance for our girls,” GBHS head coach Carrie Minton said. “After coming off a couple good outings early in the week, it could be easy to lose focus a little bit. The girls did a great job staying focused tonight.”
The Lady Panthers made seven 3-pointers coming from six different players.
That opened things up in the paint for Morgan Harwood, who led Great Bend with 12 points.
“We had 14 girls play and 12 of them scored,” Minton said. “It was a total team effort. We knew coming down the stretch that we didn’t shoot the ball well for awhile in the middle of the season, so people would pack things in a zone and force us to shoot from the perimeter.
“Fortunately for us, we have the girls who can knock down those shots and really open things up for us in the middle.”
Great Bend travels to Dodge City on Friday night.
