GARDEN CITY — The Great Bend High School volleyball team struggled against Western Athletic Conference opponents on Thursday evening.
The Lady Panthers fell 25-21, 25-22 against Garden City, and fell in three sets, 25-20, 23-25 and 25-13, against Liberal.
Great Bend was led by Regan Unruh against Garden City. She finished with four kills and five aces.
Morgan Kottas had a team-leading six digs against the Lady Buffaloes.
Brittnee Barber recorded 10 assists.
“We had a nice lead to start the first set against Garden City, but created too many errors on our side of the net to hold onto it,” Great Bend head coach Kelsey Perry said. “We let them get some momentum at the end of the set, and that carried over into the second set.”
Barber had 25 assists against Liberal.
Kottas again led in digs with eight, and also had a team-leading seven kills.
“We played Liberal with a bit more confidence the second set of the match and got the win,” Perry said. “Again, our errors cost us the third set to drop the match and finish the night 0-2.”
