GODDARD — Great Bend swept a triangular at Goddard-Eisenhower on Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers beat host Eisenhower 25-12, 18-25 and 25-20. They also topped Wichita Campus 25-16 and 25-15.
Brenna Haines had eight of her team-leading 14 blocks against Eisenhower. She also had seven kills.
“We played well the first match against Goddard-Eisenhower, but fell behind in the second match and couldn’t get back in it,” GBHS head coach Kelsey Perry said. “The third match, we blocked very well and we were consistent attackers. The back row played very well the entire match and got us out of a lot of tight situations.”
With two weeks left before Great Bend’s Class 5A sub-state, which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Liberal, Perry said that getting in a match against Eisenhower was a good thing.
“Goddard-Eisenhower has some good hitters and they caused us some trouble,” Perry said. “We will have to make some adjustments against them if we come up against them at sub-state in a few weeks.”
Tarynn Stueder had 20 of her 48 assists against Campus.
“We played well against Campus,” Perry said. “They are a tall team, but we hit the ball very well and ran a lot of different offenses and defenses against them.”
The Lady Panthers improve to 23-5 on the season and head to Newton for a triangular on Thursday at 5 p.m. with Hillsboro, which is undefeated.
