LIBERAL — The Great Bend High School girls’ bowling team swept Liberal on Thursday, winning 7-0.
The boys team beat the Redskins 4-3.
The Lady Panthers were led by senior Jacy Quade, who finished with a 601 series. She bowled a high game of 246.
“The girls were phenomenal,” GBHS head coach Mike Perry said. “We didn’t bowl the highest series we’ve ever had, but we took care of business. They are really coming together as a team. They just came together and would not be denied.”
The Lady Panthers are 21-7 in the Western Athletic Conference and are in first place in the standings after Dodge City beat Garden City on Thursday.
Kolt Ramey led the Panthers with a high series of 715. He bowled a top game of 249.
“The boys shot our highest series of the year,” Perry said. “We were at 2,697 before the Bakers games. Kolt stepped up for us today. It is nice when your top bowlers aren’t doing as well, we have kids who will step up and help the rest of the team out.”
The boys are 18-10 in the WAC and are in first place in the standings.
Great Bend hosts Garden City and Holcomb on Thursday at Walnut Bowl.
