Lady Tigers crush La Crosse

LA CROSSE — The St. John-Hudson High School girls’ basketball team led 21-2 after eight minutes, and coasted to a 74-22 victory  over La Crosse on the road.
The Lady Tigers (14-2), who are ranked No. 3 in Class 1A Division-I in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, were led by Jamie Waters, who finished with 22 points.
Teresa Christie scored 14 points, Tia Smith added 12 and Alexis Witt finished with 10.
St. John travels to Victoria on Friday.

Kinsley 50, Macksville 47
KINSLEY — Brittany Gleason scored 25 points to lead Kinsley past Macksville.
The Lady Mustangs (3-11) were led by Tara Bunker, who finished with 14 points.
Mindy Wood finished in double figures with 10 points.
Macksville hosts Fowler next.

Trego 53, Otis-Bison 29
WAKEENEY — Otis-Bison trailed 24-15 at halftime, and couldn’t make up the difference on the road.
The Lady Cougars (4-12) were led by Kim Pechanec, who finished with 12 points.
Hannah Bannister added 11 points.
Otis-Bison hosts Ness City on Friday.

Victoria 49,
Hoisington 44
VICTORIA — After three quarters, Victoria led 38-36.
The Lady Knights held on to beat Hoisington.
The Lady Cardinals were led by Jordin Greer, who finished with 16 points.
Rylie Koester added 10 points.
Hoisington travels to Ellinwood for a Mid-Central Activities Association game on Friday night.

TMP Marian 52,
Larned 37
LARNED — Thomas More Prep Marian led 34-33 after three quarters, but the Lady Monarchs went on a 18-4 tear for an MCAA victory.
The Lady Indians were led by Tiara Diaz, who sank four 3-pointers on her way to 16 points.
Shay Shepherd added 11 points for Larned (3-12).
The Lady Indians host Ellinwood on Tuesday night.

BOYS
Otis-Bison 68, Trego 66
WAKEENEY — A last-second shot from Tyler Maier lifted Otis-Bison.
Dylan Wissman forced a Trego turnover with less than 30 seconds remaining, setting up Maier’s basket.
Otis-Bison (6-10) was led by Wissman, who finished with 23 points.
Maier added 16 points.

Macksville 68, Kinsley 49
KINSLEY — Macksville outscored Kinsley 24-9 in the final eight minutes to run away with a win.
The Mustangs got a game-high 24 points from Adolfo Ibarra.
Jordan Welch added 15 points, Tanner Tranbarger finished with 14 and Clayton Wood scored 12 for Macksville (11-4).
Kinsley was led by Nathan Frame, who scored 16 points.

St. John 53, La Crosse 22
LA CROSSE — Sophomore Dean Wade led the St. John Tigers past La Crosse.
Wade finished with 18 points and seven rebounds as the Tigers dominated the second half, outscoring La Crosse 30-7.
Spencer Nusser added 14 points for St. John (16-0).

GIRLS
Central Plains 66,
Ellinwood 47
ELLINWOOD — Central Plains had three players score 17 points apiece in a rout on Monday night.
The Lady Oilers (15-2), who are ranked No. 6 in 2A, got game-high totals from Katie Hipp, Jennifer Hitschmann and Reagan Phelan.
Hipp went 9-for-11 from the free-throw line, and Phelan made three 3-pointers.
Ellinwood (10-6) was led by Sophie Hayes, Brooke Panning and Rachel Doll, each scoring 11 points.

BOYS
Central Plains 72,
Ellinwood 46 
ELLINWOOD — The Central Plains Oilers held a 37-24 lead at halftime, and never let go for the win.
Central Plains (9-8) was led by Braeden Crites, who finished with 21 points.
Layne Bieberle added 19 points, and Michael Ryan scored 18 for the Oilers.
Ellinwood (5-11) was led by Tanner Swank and Derek Ward, who scored 10 points apiece.
