ELLSWORTH — Larned’s No. 1 singles Kristin Anderson (4-0) and No. 2 doubles Macy Haas and Katelynn Sanger (3-1) placed first to help the Indians win Tuesday’s Ellsworth Tournament with 31 points. Anderson won her matches against Clay Center, Hoisington, Hillsboro and Ellsworth.
Haas and Sanger won matches against Clay Center, Ellsworth and Clay Center. But Hoisington’s Bailee Bachar and Katelyn Knapp surprised Larned’s team 8-7 (8-6) in a tiebreaker to force a three-way tie. Larned finished first, Ellsworth’s Jaycee Cunningham and Kassie Sheridan placed second and Hoisington third on a tiebreaker.
Larned’s No. 1 doubles Abby Kelty and Ali Leiker (3-1) finished second with a 8-4 loss to Ellsworth’s Cassidy Knoboth and Tori Lamb.
Clay Center’s Ella Girton won No. 2 singles.
