For high school football teams Classes 6-3A, Friday night marks the start of district action.Three games to decide whether a team’s season ends with the regular season or goes on to try to make a run to a state title game.For Larned, that starts with a game against Ulysses in 4A’s District 14 at home.Ulysses and Larned are both 5-1.The Tigers’ only loss came in Week 1 against Liberal, 56-41.The Indians are coming off their first loss of the season, a 27-9 Mid-Central Activities Association setback against Hoisington.Easton Palmer has completed 53 of 86 passes for 723 yards and seven touchdowns this season.He has also rushed for 426 yards and eight scores.The Ulysses offense funnels through sophomore Ian Rudzik, who has rushed for 1,283 yards and 17 touchdowns.Tigers have 30 rushing TDs from seven athletes.Scott City (5-1) at Hoisington (2-3) The matchup marks the beginning of 3A District 16 play for both teams.Hoisington’s Nolan McCurry has rushed for 683 yards and seven touchdowns.Avery Urban has added 312 rushing yards and six TDs.Scott City has a balanced offense. The Eagles have 1,001 passing yards and 946 rushing yards.Scott City has 13 touchdowns on the ground and eight through the air.South Central (5-1) at Macksville (1-5)This Eight-Man Division-I District 6 matchup is between two teams led by senior quarterbacks.Tanner Tranbarger heads up Macksville, rushing for a team-leading 949 yards and 18 touchdowns.He has also completed 64 of 92 passes for 758 yards and eight scores.Stetsen Underwood leads South Central with 973 rushing yards and 16 TDs.Underwood has completed 26 of 47 passes for 338 yards and five scores.The Mustangs are 1-2 in district play, while the Timberwolves are 3-1.Lincoln (3-3) at Central Plains (5-1)Both Central Plains and Lincoln have offenses led by quarterbacks.Braeden Crites leads the Oilers.Crites has 50 of 95 passes for 1,359 yards and 20 touchdowns this season.Layne Bieberle is the top receiver for the Oilers with 430 yards and 10 scores. Quarterback Zac Walter leads Lincoln with 939 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns, while completing 43 of 68 passes for 547 yards and eight scores.
