HESSTON – Larned’s softball team beat Hesston 19-14 before losing the second game 13-7 in a Central Kansas League doubleheader. The Indians played without injured ace starting pitcher Mattie Glover. Larned (8-8) plays at Smoky Valley May 4.
LARNED 19, HESSTON 14 – A wild opener featured 33 runs and 29 hits. Lynzi Myrick led Larned with four RBIs. Madison Erway had three RBIs. Other standouts were Baylea Perez, two RBIs, four runs scored; Kelsey Parr, two RBIs; Haley Skjelton, four runs scored; and Ivory Muldow, two RBIs.
HESSTON 13, LARNED 7 – Larned’s pitching staff was unable to overcome a 13-run game. Parr had four hits, Perez had three hits and Skelton and Myrick had two hits apiece. Starter Myrick, reliever Monica Clark and Perez were unable to slow Hesston (6-8).
