LHS runners compete at Victoria
Larned Indians clr NEW

VICTORIA — Larned’s Danyon Green placed 25th in the boys division to lead the Indians runners Saturday at the Class 4A cross country regional at the Sand Plum Course. Larned placed sixth in the boys standings with 167 points. Larned’s other runners who counted were Thomas Harmon, 26th, 17:35.48; Justin Giesbrecht, 37th, 17:49.1; Nicholas Orth, 38th, 17:49.46; and Kristopher Nolde, 41st.
Smoky Valley placed first (76) followed by team qualifiers Ulysses (108) and Pratt (110). Smoky Valley’s Calvin Shannon won the boys race (15:27.95) ahead of Scott City’s Jack Thomas (16:10.59).
Brooke Butler led Larned’s girls with a 42nbd-place finish (22:07.17). Also counting for the Indians were Cierra Nord, 44th, 22:09.64; MaKayla Leiker, 61st, 23:10.19; Jaidaah Harris, 84th; 26:16.31; and Jacenda Gilbert, 86th, 26:48.7.
Clay Center (56) and Hays High (56) tied for first with Buhler (71) capturing the third team berth for the Class 4A state meet at Wamego Country Club.
Abilene’s Sydney Burton (19:15.46) was medalist and Clay Center’s Andrea Chestnut (19:32.81) placed second.
