LARNED — Larned pitcher Mattie Glover threw a one-hit shutout to spark the Indians to a 6-0 and 13-6 doubleheader sweep over Nickerson Tuesday.
Larned (4-6) is scheduled to play Halstead Friday and Nickerson (0-9) plays Hoisington Thursday at home.
LARNED 6, PANTHERS 0 — Glover struck out seven batters and yielded a sixth-inning single to Katie Graham.
Haley Skelton scored Larned’s first run on a passed ball after reaching an error and moving up on a base hit by Mattie Glover. Alea Makings singled and was forced home when Kelsey Parr was hit by a pitch in the second inning.
Ivory Muldrow walked and moved into scoring position on a walk, stolen base and she scored on an error on Parr’s misplayed groundball.
Larned’s three-run fifth inning scored Lynsi Myrick, Madison Wares and Baylea Perez. Myrick scored on a passed ball. Wares scored on Perez’s double.
Catcher Myrick turned a double play that tagged out Brylee Engelland at second base. Perez scored on an error on Skelton’s misplayed pop fly for a 6-0 lead.
LARNED 13, PANTHERS 6 — Madison Erway drilled a three-run homer and drove in four runs. Mattie Glover drove in two runs in the nightcap. Perez, Glover and Myrick each had two hits. Parr and Wares also drove in runs.
Brylee Engelland drove in two runs for Nickerson and Kat Hirsh, Skylar Eidson and Brakelle Bullock added RBIs.
