MACKSVILLE 69, NICKERSON 60
ST. JOHN — Macksville’s Jacob Rein scored 19 points to lead four players in double figures as the Class 2A Mustangs beat Class 4A Nickerson 69-60 for fifth place at the Mid-Winter Basketball Classic.
Macksville (8-4) also placed Diego Delgadillo (13), Karson Waters (11) and Brigdon Russell (10) in double figures. The Mustangs outscored the Panthers 22-3 at the free throw line by effectively attacking the basket. Macksville won the first quarter 19-7.
Nickerson’s Braden Stewart scored 15 points and Peyton Kuhns and Austin O’Toole added 13 apiece. The Panthers made nine 3-pointers.

ST. JOHN – Pratt’s Samson Kohman scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds to spark the Greenbacks past Central Plains 52-45 in the Mid-Winter Classic third-place game.
Kohman scored at least four points in all four quarters. Noah Myers added 10 points. Pratt converted 5 of 13 3-point goals. The Greenbacks outmuscled the Oilers 27-13 on the boards.
Alex Hickel led the Oilers with 13 points and Brett Liebl added 12 points. The Oilers made 15 of 43 field goals, 7 of 19 from 3-point range.
