Middle school bowlers get rolling

The Great Bend Middle School bowlers.

The Great Bend Middle School added a bowling club to its list of activities for students. There were 73 students who participated every Monday and Wednesday for 90 minutes for five weeks.
The main goal of the club was to expose middle school students to the sport of bowling and show them how much fun the sport could be. Several of the students realized there was an opportunity to compete in a successful program at the high school level.
Helping and instructing the students were Great Bend High School bowling coaches, Mike Perry and Jim Mayberry. Volunteers included Neal Herman, Mike Murphy, Valerie Ruiz, Cheri Wagner, Todd Pfeifer, A.J. Roberts, Jordan Black and Jordan Vsetescka.
Coach Perry said he was excited to see such a high level of interest and was pleased to see the group enjoyed consistent attendance.
“We have sparked an interest in bowling,” Perry said. “In fact, several students stated they were joining a Saturday league and could not wait to bowl for the high school team.”
