ST. JOHN — The St. John High School girls’ basketball team put together an 18-point fourth quarter to race ahead of Kinsley on Monday night.
Jamie Waters led the Lady Tigers with 18 points, including two 3-pointers and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line.
Teresa Wade added 15 points as the only other St. John player in double digits.
The Lady Tigers are ranked No. 3 in Class 1A Division-I behind Olpe and Little River on the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll.
BOYS
St. John 58, Kinsley 44
ST. JOHN — St. John went on a 17-point spree fueled by five 3s in the opening quarter a lead over Kinsley that they never released.
Zach Minnis scored a game-high 19 points, including four from long distance and 5 of 7 free throws.
Jacob Falk hit three treys, including two in the opening eight minutes to finish the game with 11 points.

Quivira Heights 40
OTIS — Otis-Bison opened its home game against Quivira Heights by dropping in 23 points in the first eight minutes to win on Monday night.
The Cougars were led by Dominic Trapp, who put in 15 points. Micharl Hlavaty added 14 points, and Brandon Pechanec scored 13.
Bryce Straub led the Thunderbirds, who are in a four-game skid, with 16 points, including four 3s.
Taylor Siemsen was the second highest scorer for Quivira Heights with eight points.
