ST. JOHN — Macksville High School recorded its first win of the football season, beating St. John-Hudson 58-36 in the Stafford County Showdown on Friday night.
Macksville quarterback Tanner Tranbarger rushed for 234 yards and five touchdowns while completing 7 of 10 passes for one score.
Simon Miller had 130 receiving yards, including a 55-yard TD.
Tigers tailback Schuyler Brown carried the ball 35 times for 275 yards and four touchdowns.
St. John’s Jacob Milton also rushed for a touchdown.
St. John (1-3) combined for 360 yards of total offense.

CLAFLIN — Central Plains suffered its first setback of the season in its loss against Victoria.
The Oilers kept pace with the Knights through the first quarter, scoring 14 points on a 1-yard run by Colton Zink and a 53-yard TD pass from quarterback Braeden Crites to Hunter Ingham.
Victoria scored 24 unanswered points in the second quarter, and Central Plains (3-1) couldn’t recover.
Crites completed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Layne Bieberle, and Zink rushed for a 6-yard score in the second half.

ELLINWOOD — Hoisington’s Nolan McCurry rushed for 333 yards and five touchdowns against Mid-Central Activities Association foe Ellinwood.
McCurry averaged 17.53 yards per carry as the Cardinals amassed 496 yards of total offense against the Eagles.
McCurry also recorded a receiving touchdown from Taylor Richter.
Richter and Avery Urban each rushed for a touchdown for Hoisington (1-2).
Ellinwood (0-4) only had 41 yards of total offense.
Kaleb Schartz scored for the Eagles after Trey Mosier blocked a punt.

Pratt-Skyline 44,
Otis-Bison 38 (OT)
OTIS — Otis-Bison almost managed its first win of the season, but Pratt-Skyline pulled out a narrow victory with a touchdown in overtime.
Jordan Hoffman rushed for 135 yards and three touchdowns for the Cougars (0-4).
Otis-Bison quarterback Kole Urban rushed for 161 yards and two touchdowns, and completed 12 of 19 passes for 115 yards.

South Barber 48,
Stafford 24
STAFFORD — Junior Ethan Johnson rushed for 126 yards and all three of Stafford’s touchdowns in the loss.
Johnson had the Trojans ahead 16-0 in the first quarter, but South Barber took control after that, leading 20-16 after three quarters and outscoring Stafford 28-8 in the final 12 minutes.
Tristin Paulsen added 75 yards for the Trojans (2-2).
Quarterback Derek McClure completed 4 of 9 passes for 76 yards, but threw a pair of interceptions.
