CONWAY SPRINGS — No. 1 ranked 3A Hesston swept past No. 3 ranked Central Plains 7-2 in a Mid-Kansas tennis triangular. Hesston won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to earn the state’s top ranking from the Kansas Tennis Coaches Association.
Hesston’s Logan Gamble downed Devin Ryan 8-4 at No. 1 singles. Central Plains’ Brett Liebl downed Hesston’s Jorge Morales, 8-4 at No. 2 singles. Ryan placed seventh and Gamble finished 2-2 at 3A state singles last year.
Central Plains’ doubles Devin Ryan and Paxton Hammeke defeated Hesston’s Gamble and Rhain Isaac, 8-2. Ryan and Hammeke also defeated their Conway Springs’ opponents. Hesston’s Jorge Morales-Jeb Carlson placed sixth at 3A state with a 5-2 record last year.
Central Plains won four singles matches and two of three doubles matches in a 6-03 victory against Conway Springs. Liebl won his second singles match and teamed with Kade Beck to win 8-2 against Conway Springs.
