The Great Bend girls dominated a home meet Thursday with 288 points, ahead of runner-up Campus (174).
The Panthers 200-medley relay posted a state-qualifying time. Earning state consideration times in the 200 IM were Calista Long, Aubrey Snapp and Camryn Dunekack in the 100 butterfly.
“Overall, we swam pretty well,” said Great Bend coach Steve Beaumont. “The competition is going to get tougher from here on out. But this was a good meet for us coming off of the spring break. We have work to do conditioning wise, and that was evident over the last few events.”
The 200 freestyle relay (1:55.1) placed first with Olivia Mull, Delany Buehler, Sheridan Beaumont, Aubrey Snapp. The 200 medley relay placed first with Dunekack, Olivia Mull, Calista Long and Delaney Buehler. The 400 freestyle relay placed first (4:17.29) with Aubrey Snapp, Calista Long, Katherine Snapp, Camryn Dunekack.
Earning first-places were Dunekack, 50 free, 28.31; 100 fly, 1:09.28; Calista Long, 100 free, 1:00.8; 200 IM, 2:38.14; Katherine Snapp, 100 back, 1:17.73; and Olivia Mull, 100 breast, 1:20.71.
“It was good to get back in the water after spring break and race,” Beaumont said. “We’re still experimenting a lot with our lineup and many of our new swimmers are competing in some new events. “
Great Bend will compete Tuesday at home against Hutchinson High, Dodge City, Liberal, Holcomb, Salina Sacred Heart and Hutchinson Central Christian.
