DOUGLASS — The talented 12-team Douglass Goodwill wrestling tournament on Saturday found the Great Bend High School Panthers finishing second to Newton.
Newton finished with 192 points, followed by Great Bend (170), Augusta (154), Andover Central (132) and Derby (115) rounding out the top five.
The Panthers’ Chris Burley remained unbeaten on the season, winning all nine of his matches, including pinning Derby’s Garrett Xanders to win the 126-pound weight classification, and Kade Sander (7-0) was the 138 champ by injury default over Jarred Suppes of Derby.

Freshman Cody Liles of the Panthers pinned Augusta’s Ralph Caggiano at 120 to finish with a 7-4 record and third place, while Justin Henry (195) finished in third with an 8-2 mark. Heavyweight Jacob Crane finished with a 7-3 record and also registered a third-place finish,.
Brent Roberts of Great Bend (132) had a 7-4 record for fourth place, and Emerson Campbell (152) placed fourth with a 6-5 mark.
