HAYS— Score early. Score often. Eric Martinez bagged half of Great Bend’s goals and led the Panthers to a 10-0 shutout victory over TMP Tuesday at Hays.
Martinez hit the first of his five scores in the third minute of the opening half while Carlos Franco nailed a shot into the net less than sixty seconds later.
Both teams battled at midfield over a span of ten minutes before Martinez struck again at the 18 minute mark and scored once more with five minutes remaining until the break.
Jonathan Sanchez converted a goal less than a minute later giving the Panthers a 5-0 advantage heading to intermission.
Great Bend would continue to wear down the Monarchs as Martinez scored the last of his five goals fourteen minutes into the second half. The Panthers utilized a strong 4-0 run to eliminate any TMP momentum down the stretch as Great Bend coasted to the 10-0 victory.
Great Bend improves to 5-6 on the season and will return to WAC play at Garden City Thursday.
