The likes of Jeff Keenan, Aaron Mull, Tanner Neeland, Chance Haney, Cole Mulch and RJ Seidel are headed to the Class 5A regional golf tournament at the Salina Municipal Golf Course on Monday.
“The top five have played in all of the tournaments,” Great Bend High School golf head coach Troy Stein said of his team, “and R.J. has played well the last few weeks, so he made it for the final team.
“I would be surprised if Jeff doesn’t make it to the state tournament, but there’s a lot of good golfers. I think (Keenan) has finished in the top 10 three or four times (in tournaments during the regular season.)”
It also has been a growing process this season for the Panthers.
“Really, all of our guys have been consistent all season long,” Stein said. “We had one bad tournament, at Garden City. It was cold and windy and a bad day. We’ve been consistent in most of the other tournaments.”
The tournament, which will be hosted by Salina Central, will start at 9 a.m., with a majority of Great Bend’s golfers teeing off at 11.
Other schools participating in the seven-team regional include Hays, Liberal, Newton, Salina South and Valley Center.
