WICHITA — It didn’t take long for Great Bend High School’s football team to make their mark on the scoreboard against Wichita North on Friday night.
The Panthers scored on their first drive, and the defense shut out the Redskins for a 36-0 win.
After shutting down Wichita North on its first drive, the Panthers capped a 57-yard drive with a 16-yard connection from quarterback Bryce Beck and Justin McGinnes.
Beck completed a pass to Greg Burley, converting for two points to make it 8-0 with 6:34 remaining in the half.
Burley rushed for a 17-yard score in the second quarter, giving the Panthers a 15-0 advantage at halftime.
Even with the Redskins defense keying on him, Johnny Allende found the end zone twice in the third quarter, once on a 2-yard run and again on a 6-yard sprint.
Beck hurled an arcing pass over Wichita North into the open arms of McGinnes, who beat the safety for a 34-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.
