Pittsburg Colgan delivered a quick punch taking advantage of six errors in a 15-0 state championship victory over Medicine Lodge Friday at the Great Bend Sports Complex. The game was called after three innings by virtue of the mercy rule.
Colgan (14-11) has now won a Kansas record 19 state baseball titles with 12 runner-up finishes. Colgan swept seven titles in a row from 2004 to 2010. The Panthers have won 10 of the past 12 state titles in 43 state appearances.
In the consolation game, Salina-Sacred Heart erupted with 11 hits enroute to a 14-1 thumping of Oxford.
