LIBERAL— Halley Sanders just missed a top ten finish by three strokes scoring 48 at Thursday’s Liberal Golf Invitational. Teammate Allison Neeland finished one strike behind firing a 49. Other Great Bend competitors include Carly Dreiling and Brooklyn Burkhart who both finished with identical scores of 54. Mikayla Bowne and Taylor Hommertzheim finished with scores of 55 and 58 respectively.

Garden City won the event with a team score of 171. Host Liberal just edged out Hays by a point for second place at 179.

In the JV division Kaily Griffith placed third with a score of 56.

“We didn’t have any varsity individual medalists but the girls are all starting to demonstrate better consistency in their scoring,” said coach Travis McAtee. “Our goal going forward is to build confidence and continue showing improvement especially in the short game area.”

The Panthers will compete at Hutchinson on Thursday, October 1.
