ELLINWOOD— St. John boys track filled the fourth place slot with 83.75 points and just a quarter point behind Sterling (3rd) at Friday’s Ellinwood Invitational. The host team Eagles won their meet with 101 points followed by runner up Southeast of Saline with 97.25.

The Tiger girls placed sixth in their eight team meet while Sterling finished with the crown at 135.50 points.

St. John boys won two of the three relay events as Jorge Calleros, Gerardo Calleros, Quincy Smith and Clay Cooper finished as the top team in the 4X400 with a time of 3:41.34. Smith, Cooper, Gerardo Calleros and Triston Long then won the 4x800 at 8:50.91.

In individual events, Hunter Ward won gold in the 300 meter hurdles clocking in at 45.92.

Other medalists for the Tiger boys had Jorge Calleros, Cooper, Smith and Clay Cooper take the bronze in the 4x100 relay with a time of 46.47. Ward won silver in the 110 meter hurdles at 18.53. Gerardo Calleros had a time of 2:11.41 to finish runner up in the 800 meter run.

In boys field events, Chase Fisher placed third in the high jump with a leap of 5.06 ft. Ty Wycoff also finished third in the pole with a vault of 10 ft. while Smith collected bronze in the triple jump with a leap of 38.08 ft.

In girls competition, Torre Fisher was runner up in the 400 meter dash in 1:03.58. Katrena Brown, Bailey Burns, Brandi Hanson and Fisher placed third in the 4x800 meter relay at 1:08.97.
