ST. JOHN – When St. John’s boys basketball team meets Central Plains Tuesday, a seven-year streak is on the line. The Tigers lost 51-38 to Macksville for the Gene Keady basketball title Saturday.
The Tigers have not lost two consecutive basketball games since February 2012. The Tigers lost back-to-back games to Wichita Life Prep 52-45 and Macksville 66-65 when Adam Oak scored 14 points to lead four Mustangs in double figures.
St. John coach Clint Kinnamon has compiled a 136-16 record over the past seven seasons (134-15 since losing two in a row) while winning state basketball titles in 2013, 2014 and 2015.
During the past seven years, St. John owns a 12-5 record over Central Plains. The Oilers beat St. John four times in 20-15-2016 and downed the Tigers 66-63 in 2011.
