GIRLS
Quivira Heights 53, Natoma 43

HAYS — The Quivira Heights High School girls’ basketball team was able to edge Natoma on Thursday night in Hays to advance to the Class 1A Division-II sub-state championship.
The game will be played at the Felten Middle School in Hays on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Lady Thunderbirds will be playing Wilson, which beat Otis-Bison on Thursday, 53-38.

St. John 39, Spearville 28
ST. JOHN — St. John led 11-2 after the first quarter, but Spearville climbed back to within three before losing in the Class 1A Division-I second round sub-state game on Thursday night.
Teresa Wade led the Lady Tigers with 12 points.
Alexis Witt and Jamie Waters each added eight points.

Claflin 40, Goessel 15
BURRTON — Claflin won its first game in the second round of the Burrton Class 1A Division-I sub-state bracket on Thursday.
The Lady Wildcats advance to the sub-state championship held in Burrton on Saturday night at 6.
Claflin, the No. 2 seed, will be challenging the No. 1-seeded Little River in the championship game.
 
Southwestern Heights 55,
Larned 51

LARNED — Tied at 47 at the end of regulation, Southwestern Heights outscored Larned 8-4 in the extra period to win in the Class 3A sub-state secon-round game on Thursday night.
The Lady Indians scored 18 points in the final eight minutes of regulation to force the game into overtime.
The Lady Indians were led by Brittanie Miller, who scored 20 points.
Brittney Perez added 13 points, and Amanda Haberman scored 10 to join them in double figures.
