Top-ranked St. John girls beat Ness City 63-35

NESS CITY — The St. John High School girls’ basketball team remained undefeated on Friday night, beating Ness City 63-35 on the road.
The Lady Tigers, who are ranked No. 1 in Class 1A Division-I in the latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association poll, were led by Teresa Wade’s 24 points, including 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Morgan Osborne added 12 points.

LITTLE RIVER — The Ellinwood girls fell short in spite of a 16-point performance from Darri Backwith.
Little River outscored the Lady Eagles 18-11 in the final eight minutes.
Sophia Hayes added eight points for Ellinwood.

DODGE CITY — Coming off a loss against Western Athletic Conference foe Garden City, Dodge City rebounded in striking fashion.
Ashley Stephenson led Dodge City with a game-high 17 points.
Larned was led by Danette Unruh, who scored nine points against Dodge City.
Bailey Schartz added five points and Jessie Johnson scored four as the Lady Indians fall to 2-4 on the season.

Ness City 69, St. John 57

NESS CITY — The perimeter shooting of Ness City proved too much for St. John.
The Eagles, who are ranked No. 2 in Class 2A, shot 70 percent from the floor in the second half to beat the Tigers.
Zuriel Reyes scored a game-high 26 points, including 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.
