HOISINGTON – Nickerson pitcher Johnny Huggard threw a one-hit shutout to complete the Panthers’ 11-1 and 4-0 baseball sweep of Hoisington Friday.

Defending Central Kansas League champion Nickerson (12-0) plays Hesston Tuesday while Hoisington (3-6) plays at rival Larned (4-8) Tuesday.

NICKERSON 11, HOISINGTON 1 (G1) – Nickerson pitcher Carson Cornelius held the Cardinals to one run and four hits.

Nickerson’s Tanner Schrag and Kolbi Schrag homered. Tanner Schrag drove home four runs and Kolbi Schrag drove in three runs. Jaron Kauffman drove home two runs. Josh Salazar delivered four hits.

NICKERSON 4, HOISINGTON 0 (G2) – Huggard struck out three batters in a masterful seven-inning shutout.

Kolbi Schrag and Kaleb Jackson delivered two-run singles in the third inning for the Panthers’ only runs. Hoisington pitchers Nate Nicholson and Isaac Prosser held the Panthers to eight hits.
