BELOIT — Wallace County’s Eric Gfeller accounted for five touchdowns and Victoria’s Brady Dinkel scored two touchdowns and intercepted two passes as the West beat the East 42-34 in the Eight-Man 2 All-Star game. Axtell’s Colton Buessing threw three touchdown passes and Alex McDaniel scored two touchdowns for the East.
Playing for the West were Otis-Bison’s Nick Higgason and Stafford’s Nathaniel Kerschenke.
Buessing completed ab 8-yard TD pass to Frankfort’s Ryan Kraushaar for a 6-0 lead. Dinkel scored on a 50-yard touchdown and added a 2-pointer for an 8-6 lead. Gfeller completed a 61-yard touchdown to Beloit-St. John’s Parker Gates. Minneola’s Landon Walker caught the 2-pointer for a 16-6 lead. Argonia/Attica’s Alec McDaniel scored on a 2-yard touchdown for a 16-12 halftime score.
Kraushaar caught a 65-yard touchdown pass from Buessing and McDaniel caught the 2-pointer for a 20-16 East lead. Dinkel’s leaping 2-yard touchdown pass from Gfeller came on fourth-and-goal for a 22-20 lead.
McDaniel caught a 23-yard touchdown pass and added the 2-pointer for a 28-22 East lead. Walker’s 10-yard touchdown pass from Gfeller led to a 28-28 tie. McDaniel scored on a 4-yard run for a 34-28 East lead.
Gfeller converted a 1-yard TD and added the 2-pointer for a 36-34 West lead. Walker caught a 13-yard TD pass from Gfeller for a 42-34 victory.
