HAYS — After back-to-back appearances at two Kansas state tournaments, the Great Bend Quicksilver 12-and-under softball team finished with a 4-2 record at the Hays Battle of the Plains. Quickesbsilver has compiled a 30-6 summer record.
COLORADO SPRINGS EASTON HUNT 11, QUICKSILVER 1 — Eventual runner-up Colorado Springs scored 11 runs in the first two innings to overwhelm Quicksilver. Wichita Synergy downed Colorado Springs 4-1 in the Battle of the Plains championship game. Colorado Springs defeated Wichita Synergy 2-0 in pool play.
Quicksilver's Denver Ringo doubled home Kya Behr.
Pitcher Camdyn Hunt threw a three-hitter and drove in two runs. Olivia Nesbit drove home two runs. Savannah Siffert singled home Marissa Reyes in a three-run first inning. Hunt doubled home Siffert. Hunt scored on an error.
Colorado Springs scored eight second-inning runs. Addison Gutchick doubled home Cayla Baker and scored on a passed ball. JoJo Kalkmer scored on a walk. Nesbit singled home Reyes and Siffert. Hunt scored on Nevaeh Lee's single. Nesbit scored on a walk. Ariana Lovato scored on a wild pitch for an 11-1 victory.
QUICKSILVER 4. ENGLEWOOD, COLO. EASTON LIGHT 0 — Quicksilver pitcher Braelyn Turner pitched a gem with a four-hit shutout with two strikeouts.
Katherine Mazouch doubled to ignite a three-run first inning. Kya Behr's triple scored Mazouch. Alyssa McCauley singled home Behr. Denver Ringo singled in McCauley.
Kamryn Koelsch doubled home pinch runner Camdyn Post after she ran for Braelyn Turner in the second inning.
QUICKSILVER 7, DENVER PRODIGY 6 — Quicksilver delivered a comeback for the ages with seven runs in its final at-bat for a shocking 7-6 victory. Briley Richer's game-winning single scored Josie Blevins with the final run.
Kamryn Koelsch singled home Camdyn Post and Briley Richter for a 6-2 score. Kya Behr singled.Denver Ringo's walk forced home Katherine Mazouch. Josie Blevins singled home pinch runner Camdyn Post. Behr scored on Alyssa McCauley's groundout for a 6-5 score.
Kate Jackson's game-tying single scored Denver Ringo for a 6-6 tie. Richter's single ended it.
WICHITA SYNERGY 8, QUICKSILVER 1 — Wichita Synergy scored five fourth-inning runs to seal the victory. Kamryn Koelsch scored Quicksilver''s run.
QUICKSILVER 7, COLORADO ALL AMERICAN 4— Quicksilver’s Camdyn Post drilled a grand slam homer to score Koelsch, Denver Ringo and Kya Behr for a 4-3 lead. Braelyn Turner's single scored Alyssa McCauley for a 5-3 lead. Koelsch scored on a passed ball. Behr scored on Ringo's sacrifice fly in a two-run second inning.
QUICKSILVER 13, WINDSOR, COLO. STING 2 — Briley Richter drove home three runs to spark Quicksilver. Katherine Mazouch scored on a passed ball in a three-run first inning. Josie Blevins singled home Behr. McCauley's single scored Blevins for a 3-0 lead. Post scored on an error and Mazouch scored on a passed ball in a three-run second inning. Mazouch's single scored pinch runner Post.
Richter's triple scored Blevins, McCauley and Kate Jackson in a three-run third inning. Mazouch scored on Koelsch's triple in a four-run fourth inning. Behr's double scored pinch runner Post. Behr scored on an error and Ringo stole home for a 13-2 victory
