SALINA – Great Bend Braves pitcher Peyden Oelger pitched brilliantly, but lost a hard-luck 2-1 decision to the Salina Falcons Tuesday. The Falcons (19-18) won the opener 11-2.
The Braves (14-7) play Larned (7-7) in Thursday’s 6 p,m. twin bill at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
FALCONS 2, BRAVES 1 (G2) – Oelger (2-1) struck out five batters and yielded five hits.
Carson Poe singled and scored the Braves’ fifth-inning run on an error. Trey Milsap singled and reached third base, but was thrown out by 3B on Oelger’s fourth-inning groundout. Poe was stranded at third base in the seventh inning.
Salina’s Layton Schmidt scored on Kory Serocki’s seventh-inning single for the game-winning run. Serocki doubled and scored on Brody Farthing’s second-inning single. The FALCONS 11, BRAVES 2 (G1) – Great Bend’s Jaxon Wondra singled home Poe in the third inning. Trenton Kern scored on a fourth-inning passed ball.
Salina’s Serocki drove in two runs. F Waltman, Cayson Ivey, Farthing, Ayden Fitzgerald, Treytan Olson and Camden Augustine drove in runs.
