Great Bend Braves lose pair

SALINA – The Great Bend Braves baseball team (0-7) managed one run and three hits in a doubleheader loss to the Salina Spikes 8-0 and 5-1 Tuesday.

SALINA SPIKES 8, BRAVES 0 (G1) – Salina pitcher Chance Hogan yielded an Aiden Hekele double and an Eli Soupiset single with six strikeouts.

Keaton Smith drove in two runs. Max Evans, Parker Graves, Ty Heitschmidt, Hogan and Bodie Rodriguez drove in runs for Salina (8-3).

SALINA SPIKES 5, BRAVES 1 (G1) – Great Bend’s Kale Kern tripled and scored on a Hekele groundout to break up Salina’s shutout against reliever Bodie Rodriguez.

Braves starter Kale Kern pitched solidly, but Salina scored runs on a wild pitch, two passed balls and an error. Evans singled home Smith for the Spikes’ lone run batted in.
