St. John girls roll past Sterling, boys lose

ST. JOHN GIRLS 68, STERLING 42 – St. John’s Lydia Reed dominated inside with 20 points as the No. 2 ranked Division 1 Tigers cruised past Sterling 68-42 in Tuesday’s non-league basketball game.

The Tigers (18-1) also placed Heidi Fisher (13) and Mia Meyer (12) in double figures. St. John took charge with full-court pressure defense that led to a 25-12 lead after one quarter.

STERLING 63, ST. JOHN 39 – St. John’s Quade Smith scored 10 points and Alan Valenzuela added eight points in a 63-39 non-league basketball loss to No. 1 ranked 2A Sterling Tuesday. 

The Tigers (8-11) trailed 8-4 when Sterling used full-court pressure for a 22-4 scoring run for a 30-8 lead. Sterling's Boston Ekart scored 16 points with four 3-pointers. Isaac Briar scored 10 points.
