St. John golfer makes 1A state golf cut

EMPORIA – St. John’s Toby Woolf overcame a 9 and posted an 88 (46-42) to make the 18-hole cut Monday at Emporia Golf Course. Woolf finished with a 16th-place medal when play was canceled Tuesday due to poor weather.

1A state golf was canceled due to lightning and excess rain continuing to fall Tuesday morning. Scores reverted back to 18-hole scores Monday. Frankfort (347) captured the 1A state title by 11 strikes over Osborne (358). Centralia's Trent Mars (78) birdied one hole and won the state championship by one shot over Frankfort's Aiden Gerstner (79) and Atwood's Kendrick Woody (79). 

St. John’s Connor Gillespie shot 111 (53-58) and missed the cut.
