LARNED -- The No. 1 ranked 1A St. John boys placed five runners in the top 10 junior-senior medalists to capture first place at Thursday's Larned cross country meet. 

St. John medalist A.J. Miller (18:35.8) led the way followed by runner-up Mason Osborne, (18:37.3);  fourth-place Cashe McVey, (19:07.9); sixth-place Wrangler Walker, (19:15.3); ninth-place Trey Fisher, (19:32.7); and 10th-place Hunter Hanson, (19:38.0). St. John scored 19 points followed by Lakin (48) and Pratt-Skyline (54). Hoisington's Dayne Yott placed seventh (19:11.2) and Stafford's Cayden Brozek eighth (19:28.1).

"The varsity boys did a great job of competing in tough conditions," said St. John coach Joel Delp. " We had eight guys finish in the top 10 which is very good.  Our team has been working hard, and I know they are looking forward to some cooler weather next week.  Hopefully, we can bring our times down some more.” 

JR-SENIOR GIRLS --Great Bend's Mayra Ramirez (21:38.7) placed first followed by Larned runner Cierra Nord (23:09.5) in third place.

SOPHOMORE-NINTH GRADE BOYS -- Larned;s Brayden Lothman captured first Hoisington's Ian Doss, ninth (20:22.3) and Otis-Bison's Nlake Pierce, 10th (20:33.1).  St. John's Uriel Calleros received a 7th place medal with a time of 19:56.6 and Dylan Reed received an 8th place medal with a time of 20:10.9.  

SOPHOMORE-NINTH GRADE GIRLS --  Hannah Redetzk  of Central Plains (22:55.4) placed runner-up and Macksville's Abigail Ibarra, Macksville (26:33.8) placed 10th.

JUNIOR HIGH --  In the 7th grade boys mile race, St. John's Quade Smith finished third (6:37.2).   In the eighth grade two mile race, August Siefkes third (15:10.1).
