CIMARRON — St. John’s 6-foot-7 Tanner Halling dominated again with a 23-point outing to spark the red-hot Tigers past Cimarron 56-37 in Monday’s non-league basetball game. The Tigers (13-3, 5-0 CPL) meet LaCrosse (13-3, 5-0 CPL) Tuesday for first place in the  Central Prairie League.

St. John’s Marshall Woolf contributed 14 points and super sub Edwin Fernandez scored a career high 12 points with a pair of 3-pointers.

CIMARRON — St. John’s Bree Meyer rescued the Tigers with seven fourth-quarter points as they edged past Cimarron's girls 33-30 in Monday’s non-league basketball game. The Tigers (8-8) converted seven free throws in the fourth quarter.

Cimarron (10-5) was led by Makayla Miller with 10 points.

ELLINWOOD — Ellinwood’s Brit Dutton was spectacular with 21 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in a 71-63 non-league basketball victory over Russell. The Eagles stretched their lead to 24 points in the fourth quarter.

David Hammeke contributed 20 points and Kyler Doll added 11 points for Ellinwood (11-4). Russell (2-14) was led by by Rhett Pospichal with 16 points.

ELLINWOOD — Ellinwood’s Mya Maxwell converted six 3-pointers and scored 27 points in a hard-fought 54-45 non-league basketball loss to Russell's girls Monday. Ellinwood (8-7) sliced a 13-point deficit to 49-44, but the Broncos converted five free throws.

Russell’s Anyla Stierlen scotred 23 points and Rylan Reeves added 18 points to combine for 41 points.

NESS CITY – St. John’s 6-foot-7 Tanner Halling contributed 26 points, 11 rebounds and three assists as the Tigers overpowered Ness City 65-40 in Saturday’s Central Prairie League basketball game.

The No. 4 ranked 1A Tigers outscored the Eagles 24-7 in the third quarter. Elijah Delp scored 11 points.

NESS CITY — Erin Crissman scored eight points as the St. John Tigers survived 28-26 over pesky Ness City in Saturday’s Central Prairie League showdown.

The Tigers (7-8, 1-3 CPL) found a way as Payton Meyer converted a 3-pointer and Darby Smith and Kaylynn Claussen made fourth-quarter baskets.

MACKSVILLE — Macksville’s Rogelio Ibarra scored 14 points in a hard-fought 47-44 non-league basketball loss Saturday to Hodgeman County. 

Macksville (6-9) rallied with an 18-point fourth quarter. Alvaro Ibarra scored 10 points and Ryan Kuckelman added eight points and seven rebounds. The Mustangs converted 7 of 20 3-pointers.

“We made too many mistakes against Hodgeman County,” said Macksville coach Jeff Kuckelman. “We fought back and showed great effort on defense throughout the game. But the mistakes we made cost us.

Kaylee James scored 17 points for Hodgeman County (10-6).

VICTORIA  — Macksville’s Rogelio Ibarra scored 23 points and the Mustangs converted 23 free throws to outlast Victoria 68-62 in overtime Friday in a Central Prairie League basketball shootout.

Ryan Kuckleman contributed 16 points and eight rebounds. Cleven Huggins added 13 points in the see-saw ballgame.

“It was good for our team to win a close, double OT game,” said Macksville coach Jeff Kuckelman. “We hit big shots when we had to and hit critical free throws to secure the win. We kept battling throughout as it was fairly close the entire game.”
