PHILLIPSBURG -- No. 1 ranked Gage Fritz (37-1, 145) captured first place to join Wyatt Weber (24-4, 132) and George Weber (24-4, 138) as first-place champions at the Phillipsburg Panther Wrestling Classic. Fritz defeated Fredonia's Matt Weilert, 10-3 in the finals. Gage Fritz was voted outstanding wrestler of the tournament. Fritz broke the near fall state record this weekend in his last match in the finals.
Wyatt Weber defeated Norton's Kolton Field 6-1 in the finals. George Weber defeated Hoxie's Dylan Weimer, 2-0 in the championship.
Great Bend placed third (112) behind Hoxie (151) and Norton (117) without five varsity regulars. Placing runner-up were Great Bend's Kadin Spragis (106) and Alex Randolph (160).
Great Bend's junior varsity won the team title with combined boys and girls with 193 points.
