HALSTEAD 57, LARNED 29

HALSTEAD — Halstead's Karenna Gerber scored 31 points as the No. 1-seeded Dragons dominated Larned 57-29 in the 3A Halstead basketball substate. 

Larned (1-20) was paced by Kendra Grandy with eight points and Eden Evers with seven points. The Indians were brilliant from the charity stripe with 16 of 22 free throws.

The Dragons defeated Larned 55-18 in their last meeting Feb. 25.

NORTON — Norton outscored Hoisington 36-13 after halftime for a 58-34 victory in the 3A Beloit basketball substate. Hoisington trailed 22-21 at halftime and were within 27-24 after Keeley Wolf converted a 3-pointer.

But Norton (14-8) finished the third quarter with a 17-1 scoring burst for a 44-24 lead. Tessa Hauer led Norton with 16 points and Hannah Bailey scored 13 points, nine in the second half.

Wolf led the Cardinals (6-15) with nine points on a trio of 3-pointers. Kelsi Dalton and Jaci Guthrie added six points.

ELLINWOOD — Top-seeded Ellinwood downed Remington 48-32 in the 2A Inman basketball substate. Tyler Stuhlsatz scored 13 points and Britton Dutton and Tyler Knop each added nine points. Ellinwood (17-4) plays in Thursday's Inman semifinals. The Eagles last qualified for a state basketball tournament 36 years ago.
