LINDSBORG—The Smoky Valley Vikings dominated the statistics as their senior class showed they are ready to make noise in 3A football in a 46-7 football victory over Larned.

Larned coach Tad Remy lost his head coaching debut after replacing A.B. Stokes.

Viking quarterback Lane Schrag scampered 32 yards for a touchdown to complete an 80-yard drive. Back Tim Lambert punched in a 2-point conversion run and the senior-dominated Viking team had set the tone against an inexperienced Larned 11.

The Vikings moved for two more first-quarter scores behind the power running of fullback Cort Elliott. Schrag sprinted 75 yards for a touchdown for a 24-0 lead. Smoky Valley scored three touchdowns for a 46-0 lead after three quarters.

Things improved somewhat for Larned in the second half as the Indians managed several short drives that were cut short by penalties and mishandled snaps.

Larned scored with 1:01 remaining in the game on a Mason Perez 9-yard run. Logan DeMond toed in the extra point for the final margin of 46-7.

The Vikings started 10 seniors. Quarterback Schrag rushed for 148 yards and two scores and three passes for 36 yards.

He guided a near mistake-free offense throughout the game. Elliott gained 95 yards and speedster Lambert added 94 yards. The Vikings gained 411 yards on 48 carries.

Larned quarterback Perez completed 7 passes for 59 yards and added 21 yards rushing. He was pressured all evening by the quick and big Viking defensive line. The Indians managed 69 yards rushing against a strong defense. Receivers Chance Sanger and Brayden Rupp each had two pass receptions.

Smoky Valley plays Haven (1-0) and  Larned plays Hesston, a 42-36 winner over Hillsboro.
