No. 1 Duke 98, Elon 72
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Kyle Singler scored 24 points to help No. 1 Duke beat Elon 98-72 on Monday night, moving coach Mike Krzyzewski into a tie for second place on the all-time wins list.
Nolan Smith added 22 points as the Blue Devils (11-0) gave their Hall of Fame coach his 879th win in 36 seasons at Duke and Army. Krzyzewski is now tied with Dean Smith, who spent 36 seasons at rival North Carolina before retiring in 1997 as the winningest coach Division I history.
Krzyzewski can pass Smith by beating North Carolina-Greensboro at the Greensboro Coliseum on Dec. 29. That would leave only Bobby Knight ahead of him, as Knight passed Smith with 902 wins before retiring almost three years ago.
Andre Dawkins scored 17 off the bench for Duke, which took control with a 14-0 first-half run but couldn’t put away the Phoenix (4-7) until the final 6 minutes.

UConn led 38-21 at the half, and was up 25 early in the second half, before Coppin State made a run.
A 3-pointer from Harper cut the UConn advantage to 10 with just under 6 minutes left, but the Eagles couldn’t get any closer.
The Huskies play one more nonconference game on Wednesday against Harvard before next Monday’s first Big East game at No. 8 Pittsburgh.
No. 5 Syracuse 97,
Morgan State 55

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Rick Jackson had 18 points and nine rebounds, reserve James Southerland added a career-high 18 points and Syracuse beat Morgan State.
Syracuse (12-0) used its defense, a large dose of unselfishness and finesse, and some pinpoint accuracy from long range to open a lead that ballooned to as many as 19 points in the first half.
The Orange went on a 12-0 run midway through the first to grab control. Southerland started the spurt with a 3 from the left corner off a steal by Jackson, and Jackson followed with a dunk off a pretty pass from Dion Waiters.
Morgan State (4-5), the two-time defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion, was no match for the Orange. Kevin Thompson led the Bears with 15 points and freshman Justin Black had 14.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Freshman Keith McDougald scored a career-high 18 points, including four free throws late in overtime, and Delwan Graham added two critical buckets to lead Jacksonville to an upset of Florida.
McDougald hit both ends of a one-and-one with 31.8 seconds remaining in overtime to give the Dolphins (7-3) a 69-66 lead and hit two more with 17.1 seconds remaining to provide the final margin.
It was Jacksonville’s first victory over Florida since Dec. 21, 1994 and just the Dolphins’ ninth victory in 33 meetings with the Gators.
Graham helped set up McDougald’s icing free throws with two baskets in the final 1:30. Both gave the Dolphins one-point leads. He finished with 10 points.
Florida (8-3) got a season-high 21 points from Erving Walker and double-doubles by Vernon Macklin (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Alex Tyus (10 points, 11 rebounds).
